Ringo Starr - What Is My Name - CD -

Price per Unit (stuk): €21.95

With enviable energy and the simple, persistent message of “peace and love,” Ringo Starr has become one of humanity’s quintessential goodwill ambassadors. “What’s My Name,” his 20th studio album, is another bundle of positivity and cheer, with a handful of good tunes to boot.

Recorded at his home studio (Roccabella West) with a familiar cast of friends like Joe Walsh, Steve Lukather, Benmont Tench and Edgar Winter, “What’s My Name” continues Starr’s practice of including some sort of Beatle connection on his albums — a guest spot from a Liverpool lad or two, a song one of them wrote for Starr or sometimes just a reference to their collective glories.

Ringo Starr's guest-laden 20th solo album will include a collaboration with Paul McCartney on a song written by their former bandmate John Lennon. What's My Name is due on Oct. 25.

The inspiration to return to "Grow Old Along With Me," one of Lennon's unfinished late-period songs, came courtesy of former Lennon producer Jack Douglas.

"Jack asked if I ever heard the 'Bermuda Tapes,' John's demos from that time," Starr said in a news release. "And I had never heard all this." He was particularly taken by "Grow Old Along With Me," which Lennon wrote as a tribute to his lasting love for Yoko Ono. "I sang it the best that I could. I do well up when I think of John this deeply. And I’ve done my best. We’ve done our best."
